What is CIRS?
Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), is a complex illness where the immune system gets stuck in overdrive, causing widespread inflammation from exposure to biotoxins like those from water-damaged buildings, leading to symptoms like "brain fog," fatigue, joint and muscle pain, often mimicking other conditions like fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome. It's not a simple allergy but an inflammatory dysfunction triggered by molds and other biological agents, affecting many body systems, making diagnosis tricky but treatment possible by reducing inflammation and supporting detoxification.
The treatment framework most commonly used for CIRS is the Shoemaker Protocol, implemented clinically by physicians such as Dr. Andrew Heyman. Coaching provides day-to-day support so patients can follow treatment instructions, stay organized, and make the environmental and lifestyle changes required for recovery.
